32-34 Lower Dagnall Street, St Albans, Hertfordshire, AL3 4PT
A legendary back-street local in historic St Albans with deep CAMRA roots — it was the birthplace of the Hertfordshire CAMRA branch in 1972 and the only pub in the city never to abandon cask ale. Originally a grocer's and butcher's shop in the 19th century, the Farriers became a pub in the 1920s and remained tied to McMullen's until becoming a free house in 2013. The split-level interior features a front bar area for stand-up drinking with darts and cards, sports TV, and a back room with additional seating for dining. A proper drinker's pub with serious ale credentials and a pivotal place in real ale history.
